Island Store, Newlyn - A unique and once in a lifetime project we are thrilled to share with everyone. A derelict commercial property in the heartbeat of Newlyn, used as a fishing store by the family for generations. Now a home to an inspiring young family, with Tom still fishing out of Newlyn. This project involved a single-story curved extension, replacing an old conservatory. To achieve this, we temporarily propped up the entire corner of the building to safely remove it and install a complex steel structure that supports the existing first floor. The result is a spacious living area featuring 8 nearly floor-to-ceiling sliding sash windows and a patio door, offering uninterrupted views of the estuary. Working with the amazing Studiogather we delivered a stunning extension both in keeping and sympathetic to the existing buildings beauty. The stunning walkover from existing stairwell with four box frame windows maximising the view of the estuary and surrounding area.
